I just started trucking to help pay off some of my loans. I like it more than I thought I would, but recently my girl asked me to stop. She says I don't spend enough time with her anymore. She said to pick my job or her, that's messed up! I like making money, I NEED it! I feel like I am screwed either way here, but should I keep the girl or the job?

As far as you making a big decision I would say this everyone needs a job jobs are so hard to come by I would... see more

1- Cover your ass. Take pictures, get it in writing, scale everything, get a dashcam and run it all the time.

2- NEVER trust a dispatcher.

3- Never enter any place you don't know how to get out of. Throw the brake, set the 4 ways and walk yourself in. always make sure you can get out.

4-. Don't screw over the next guy. Leave the truck... see more

#3 is crucial, especially if you're pulling a combination of vehicles. NEVER drive into an area that you can't back... see more

First day of class was this past Saturday. We got thrown in the fire without any knowledge of how to back. The instructor showed us once and that was it. Then he expects us all to do it perfectly. I hit like 10 cones and felt like an ass, but a buddy of mine actually backed the truck straight into a ditch. Why they even had the truck anywhere near a ditch I have no clue. The instructor turned red and I really thought he was going to kill... see more

I drive safe and when I see people on the road doing these things it just pisses me off. Let's ALL be safe out there and use our heads.

1- Driving under bridges that are too low
Just because you THINK you can make it doesn’t mean you can! Read the clearance signs people! I have seen guys take out the tops of their trucks before. What a mess.

2- Skipping your walk around
Don’t get lazy! Check your damn tire pressure and your lines. PERIOD.

Last week I was doing a haul and the dispatcher told me I had to make it by 6 that night. It was my own STUPID fault but I drove faster than I ever do. I just really wanted to shut him the hell up and make it there. Well it rained hard earlier that day and I hit a big puddle. The truck skid and I flipped it onto its side. I called it in right away and then yesterday my boss told me I am fired. I couldn’t believe it!!!!! Anyone else ever get into... see more

if they needed then they will need it when you get it there safe and in one peace !!

My truck broke down last week and the supervisor shows up and tells me it’s MY fault because I did not do a good enough pre-trip. What happened was my other idiot supervisor strapped down a tire onto the catwalk and the strap broke, wrapped around my driveline and then tore up all my airlines. I told her it wasn’t me that did that. She then FLIPS out on me gets in my face and says that she doesn't need my attitude WHAT?!!!. The whole time I tried... see more

Well it really was your fault because if you saw it an knew it was not right you should have redone it to make it... see more

I was doing a long haul a couple days ago and had my dog Purdy with me. I love my little girl!! Not even 10 miles out DOT pulls me over. They tell me she can’t have her head out the window and that he is going to write me a ticket!!! I start to freak out, but as he is about to write the ticket Purdy starts to cry and puts her paw up in the air and kind of waves at him like she is saying hi over and over. He asks me if I taught her that. I said I... see more

I notice more and more states are shutting down lots more rest stops to cut costs, which forces us to park in empty parking lots or on the side of interstates to get some sleep. Where do you all park your truck? Do you guys think this will ever get any better?! I am annoyed!

In that case...change what u need..which will be Ems...for your breathing...since your job is taking the breath out... see more

So my new dispatcher is a real pain in my ass. Last week I get my load assignment but the delivery time was nearly impossible to make. I would literally need perfect weather and road conditions to be able to make the deadline not to mention drive non-stop without at least one fuel stop and a bathroom break. It just wasn't possible and I ended up looking like the jerk who couldn’t handle things. This isn’t the first time this has happened. What do... see more

I was driving back home around 3 in the morning and I had not seen my family for over 4 weeks so I decided to take a short cut through some pretty isolated back roads that I didn’t know too well. It was literally in the middle of NOWHERE but I figured if it got me home faster it would be worth it.

So I get to this part of the road with all of these old creepy trees on the side. I hadn't seen a house or anything in hours, it was just miles and... see more
