Like many, I have been in the unfortunate situation of abruptly finding myself without a job. I don't mind telling you, in the moment, it's a completely demoralizing experience. When this did happen to me, there were a few steps I took so I could move forward productively:

1) I was gracious -- I thanked my employer for the opportunity and offered to expedited any needed transition. Why was I so nice? I don't believe in burning bridges... see more

I just started trucking to help pay off some of my loans. I like it more than I thought I would, but recently my girl asked me to stop. She says I don't spend enough time with her anymore. She said to pick my job or her, that's messed up! I like making money, I NEED it! I feel like I am screwed either way here, but should I keep the girl or the job?

As far as you making a big decision I would say this everyone needs a job jobs are so hard to come by I would... see more

Last week after passing the scale I was pulled over for a DOT inspection. Figured it was routine when the officer asked if could see the inside of my truck. I got nothing to hide so I said sure. I was not carrying anything I shouldn't, but all of a sudden he starts rifling through my stuff and finds a large plastic cooking knife that was next to a spatula and some seasonings under my seat. I have a microwave in the back and sometimes I cook stuff... see more

Not true... probable cause will do it...but that has to be proven

Our house payments are lapsing and I am so scared. My wife is ill and can no longer work. We aren’t making enough to get by with the job I have now and I think we will lose our home in the next 4 months if I don’t act fast. I know it sounds nuts, but what about truck driving? I heard you can make money quickly and we really need it. Can someone please help us? What do I have to do? I’m so lost.

I own 3 small trucking company’s. There is always a shortage of good drivers. Go to local license branch and take... see more

First day of class was this past Saturday. We got thrown in the fire without any knowledge of how to back. The instructor showed us once and that was it. Then he expects us all to do it perfectly. I hit like 10 cones and felt like an ass, but a buddy of mine actually backed the truck straight into a ditch. Why they even had the truck anywhere near a ditch I have no clue. The instructor turned red and I really thought he was going to kill... see more

I drive safe and when I see people on the road doing these things it just pisses me off. Let's ALL be safe out there and use our heads.

1- Driving under bridges that are too low
Just because you THINK you can make it doesn’t mean you can! Read the clearance signs people! I have seen guys take out the tops of their trucks before. What a mess.

2- Skipping your walk around
Don’t get lazy! Check your damn tire pressure and your lines. PERIOD.

Last week I was doing a haul and the dispatcher told me I had to make it by 6 that night. It was my own STUPID fault but I drove faster than I ever do. I just really wanted to shut him the hell up and make it there. Well it rained hard earlier that day and I hit a big puddle. The truck skid and I flipped it onto its side. I called it in right away and then yesterday my boss told me I am fired. I couldn’t believe it!!!!! Anyone else ever get into... see more

if they needed then they will need it when you get it there safe and in one peace !!

My truck broke down last week and the supervisor shows up and tells me it’s MY fault because I did not do a good enough pre-trip. What happened was my other idiot supervisor strapped down a tire onto the catwalk and the strap broke, wrapped around my driveline and then tore up all my airlines. I told her it wasn’t me that did that. She then FLIPS out on me gets in my face and says that she doesn't need my attitude WHAT?!!!. The whole time I tried... see more

Well it really was your fault because if you saw it an knew it was not right you should have redone it to make it... see more

I was doing a long haul a couple days ago and had my dog Purdy with me. I love my little girl!! Not even 10 miles out DOT pulls me over. They tell me she can’t have her head out the window and that he is going to write me a ticket!!! I start to freak out, but as he is about to write the ticket Purdy starts to cry and puts her paw up in the air and kind of waves at him like she is saying hi over and over. He asks me if I taught her that. I said I... see more

So DOT pulls me over and the guy has a real attitude. He asks me if I know why he pulled me over. I honestly didn’t. I told him I had no clue. He says I must be stupid because I was speeding. I tell him that can’t be right. I knew I wasn’t speeding. Of course no point in arguing with him, but I swear I wasn’t speeding! Now this is likely going to cost me my job because no one is going to want to hire someone who has a ticket on their record. What... see more
