I have been doing career coaching for many years. Just finished creating a 4 part series for people at my company that are being impacted by an acquisition and will be in the job market soon. There are a lot of resume trends people are not aware of:
1. DO Not put more than 10-15 years of work experience if you have it.
2. DO NOT put the year you graduated from any school...college or high school.
3. Do not put your birth year in your email... see more

#MotivationalMonday

But, I made a promise to myself that 2020 would be a year of personal growth and positivity which means every Monday counts! So, I whipped out my Tide To-Go pen, poured a new cup of coffee and headed into work with a smile.

It's imperative to always tell the truth! there is nothing shameful about having been fired from the last job unless it was your fault. Either way, tell the truth. You may be surprised at the response!!

But tell the truth the right way, the way that shows your better qualities. For example, instead of saying I was... see more

In 2017 I was laid off from my job and unfortunately was unemployed for 6 months. In the beginning I thought, no biggie I’ll get a job in a month, but clearly that wasn’t the case. I’ll be honest, it was a really stressful time for me. I felt like I was spending countless hours in front of the computer, traveling to 1st and 2nd interviews, talking on the phone, and never getting a job offer. It was mentally exhausting and discouraging. As a... see more

Everyone stresses about doing a good job at work but for me, the most stress comes from trying to remember too many things at once.

Whether on paper or on my phone, just finding a way write them all down helps me focus on one task and then getting that satisfaction of crossing it off when I’m done! When I don’t do it I’m always worried about forgetting something or wondering if I should be working on something else. It seems small but it... see more

I’ve been so set on thinking I should only apply for jobs I’m qualified for. Big mistake! I recently applied for a job in sales, and have an interview on Tuesday. My lack of “education” had kept me in a mode of stall, fear. I may not be educated, but I am highly intelligent. Time to grow

Too old to qualify for a part-time job!
